We are currently facing one the most critical moments in contemporary human history since the perpetual state of crisis during the Cold War days. The "Nuclear Option" is now being openly debated among the leading military powers. Humbly, I think that I speak for a number of humans when I say that I don't want war. War is no good. Inhuman acts of violence, stagnation of progress, fomentation of racial-based hate, among diverse other atrocities. I think humans as a collective should place a lot more importance on their sense of survival as a biological entity. - Are we willing to let the global powers destroy our species? - Has humanity lost its humanity? - Have we become so numb with technology that we started taking our existence for granted? Despite this, the majority of people don't give too much attention to this topic. And understandably so in fact. Why should person x think about the larger issues that affect humanity as a whole while he/she/them struggle to make ends meet and the end of every month? Person x just doesn't care because he/she/them has more important priorities as a single human entity. Now, an interesting question for the reader to think about: Is it objectively wrong for us not to care about this topic either by choice or ignorance? "Tambores de Guerra, Pedidos de Paz, y algo de Romance" ["War Drums, Peace Petitions, and some Romance"] is a piece in four contiguous movements that portrays the experience of a day-to-day human living life while being oblivious (either by choice or ignorance) to the possible apocalyptical outcomes of the current tensions among the global powers.
